RA FM DISCONTENT WITH SOME REMARKS OF VENICE COMMISSION

PanARMENIAN.Net - The process of constitutional reform in Armenia shows considerable progress, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian stated at press conference in Yerevan today. "We should like to meet with Venice Commission's full approval of the process of constitutional reform in Armenia", he said. At the same time he noted that he does not agree with some remarks of the Venice Commission, since a country should itself choose the government system and the electoral principles proceeding from it and only then carry out works targeted at bringing them to European standards. As Vartan Oskanian noted, the crucial event in the process of integration into the European structures was Armenia's presentation of IPAP in Brussels last week as well as the handing of draft package of EU-Armenia Plan to Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy.
