Armenia and EU Hope to Complete Working out Action Plan Shortly

PanARMENIAN.Net - «Today was a very important to Armenia, standing on the way of European integration. Already in 2004 Armenia along with other two countries of the South Caucasus was included in the European Neighborhood Policy, being implemented by the EU,» stated Armenian Deputy FM Armen Bayburdyan during a news conference upon the completion of the EU-Armenia talks. In his words, within that period both Armenia and the Eurocommission prepared to working out a joint Action Plan. «Today was the first stage of the talks, during which we tried to work out a common text that will underlie the Action Plan,» Armen Bayburdyan said.



The Armenian Deputy FM remarked Armenia had been expecting the European Commission delegation for a long time. In his words, «today's meeting means the beginning of the process and both parties are disposed to finish the working out of the joint Action Plan shortly.» A. Bayburdyan remarked that new opportunities, especially the European market, will open for Armenia upon the working out of the Plan. «The document will also be an important stimulus for reforms,» the Armenian Deputy FM said. He appreciated the talks and their outcomes. The partied agreed almost over all issues and only a few questions need revision and specification, which will be done during the next phase of the talks, Mr. Bayburdyan reported.
