EU-South Caucasus Talks Open in Brussels

PanARMENIAN.Net - EU Troika representatives will have a meeting with Armenian, Georgian and Azeri FMs, chaired by EU Foreign Policy and Security Commissioner Javier Solana. During the event further steps within the European Neighborhood Policy will be discussed. "The seventh session of the EU Troika and South Caucasus FMS was to be held in Brussels, however the meeting format was changed due to differences between Azerbaijan and Cyprus," stated Armenian MFA Spokesperson Hamlet Gasparyan. In his words, for the meeting to be continued and the core essence to be discussed, especially processes with Georgia and Armenia within the European

Neighborhood Policy, the EU tried to find a way out of the situation. However, nothing special or almost nothing special has changed in Armenia. "The question lies in lodging a complaint or expressing dissatisfaction with that approach. We presented our understanding and it would be good if relations with different countries had their own course not to interfere with each other," G. Gasparyan remarked.

As of the launching of the EU-Armenia Action Plan, the Armenian MFA Spokesperson remarked that rather effective and useful work was done in late November this year to complete the working out and implementation of the Action Plan. "We hope to launch the first stage of EU-Armenian Action Plan before the first quarter of 2006. During many years we have been

stating that Armenia belongs to Europe and integration into European structures is a main direction of Armenia's policy," stated Armenian MFA Spokesperson, reported RFE/RL.
