Armenian peacekeepers awarded certificates and medalsAugust 10, 2007 - 15:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Today the Chief of the RA Armed Forces General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister, Colonel General Seyran Ohanyan awarded certificates, medals and valuable presents to the fifth shift of the Armenian peacekeepers, who have accomplished their mission in Iraq."The worthy service of the Armenian peacekeepers enhances the prestige of our state," Col. Gen. Ohanyan said. "We attach great importance to today's event, which once again proved that Armenian peacekeepers managed their task in a fitting manner," he said. Officer Gevorg Nalbandyan, who was gravely injured in Iraq, was also present at the ceremony, IA Regnum reports. The fifth shift included 46 peacekeepers (staff officers, drivers, field engineers and medical officers). The Armenian contingent is performing its mission within a Polish battalion on the grounds of the memorandum ratified by the RA parliament December 24, 2004. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
