European experts to monitor state of cultural monuments in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - European experts will soon arrive in Armenia to monitor state of cultural monuments in the republic. "Armenia has given consent on conduction of monitoring on its territory," Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis told a news conference in Yerevan.

"Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan said Yerevan will not prevent the monitoring even if Azerbaijan refuses to host the mission. This step proceeds from Armenia's interests, since it will enhance the prestige of the republic," Mr Davis said.

He informed that European mission will head for Armenia in the near future. "We must thoroughly study all accusations of the sides," he said.

He refused to say whether the CoE will give an appropriate assessment in case Azerbaijan blocks the mission. "If I criticize Azerbaijan when in Armenia and vice versa, it won't do relationship good," Mr Davis said, IA Regnum reports.
