Gurgen Margaryan to be commemorated in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and top officership of the Armenian Armed Forces will lay a wreath to Gurgen Margaryan's tomb in Yerablur Pantheon on occasion of the 5th anniversary of the murder of the Armenian officer, the RA Defense Minister's spokesman, col. Seyran Shahsuvaryan told PanARMENIAN.Net



On January 11, 2004, lieutenant Gurgen Margaryan left for Budapest to participate in a three-month English language course which was part of the Partnership for Peace NATO-sponsored program. On February 19, he was axed, while asleep, by a fellow Azerbaijani participant, lieutenant Ramil Safarov.



Safarov was given a life sentences without a right to pardon during 30 years.



In February 2007, the Court of Appeals upheld the verdict.
