Some 6 thousand people addressed Ombudsman's office in 2008

PanARMENIAN.Net - 5 800 people addressed the office of human rights defender in 2008, Armenia's Ombudsman said.



"Our office has fixed numerous violations in various fields," Armen Harutyunyan said when presenting his 2008 report.



"It's first of all violation of right of free assembly. Opposition forces requested permission to conduct rallies 90 times but were rejected. Besides, there were cases of assaults on journalists," he said. "Furthermore, prisoners were subjected to tortures."



Among the other problems, Ombudsman Harutyunyan pointed out to condemnation of property and ecological issues.
