MEMORIAL TO VICTIMS OF EARTHQUAKE IN 1988 TO BE BUILT IN GYUMRIAugust 2, 2003 - 18:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A Memorial Complex to commemorate victims of the earthquake in 1988 will be built in Gyumri Armenian city (former Leninakan). The memorial opening will be dated for the 20-th anniversary of the earthquake in 2008. In the words of chairman of "Earthquake and Revival" non-governmental organization Murad Muradian, the complex (costing about $7-8 million) will be built exclusively owing to people's donations and means collected via charitable actions. The complex will include a museum, a library, conference halls. It should be reminded that over 25 thousand were killed in a destructive earthquake taken place in Armenia December 7, 1988.
