ROMANIA CAN PLAY A POSITIVE ROLE IN THE KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT

PanARMENIAN.Net - Romania can play a positive role in the Karabakh conflict settlement. As reported by "Arka" agency, President of Romania Ion Iliescu stated it in the course of a press conference in Yerevan. In his words, the role can lie in contributing to establishing à direct dialogue between the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, taking into account the good relations of Romania with the two countries. Iliescu also mentioned the fact that Romania was presiding at OSCE this year and it could also affect the conflict resolution positively. In this connection the President stressed, Romania had tried to participate in all the processes related to the conflict within OSCE framework. "This is a very complicated problem and it requires a special approach," - I.Iliescu said. He especially emphasized the role of the three powers: U.S.A., Russia and France in the Karabakh conflict resolution. "We should promote solution of this problem by our joint efforts, creating psychologically favorable atmosphere," - I.Iliesku said.
