Gurgen Arsenyan: false start given to 2012 parliamentary election

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of the United Labor Party Gurgen Arsenyan said that all political forces planning to participate in the 2012 parliamentary election in Armenia will struggle to gain seats in the National Assembly.

“The heat of the struggle, however, depends on the results of authorities’ activity,” Arsenyan told a press conference in Yerevan on November 10.

According to him, the opposition will focus on the authorities’ blunders which led to worsening of people’s financial situation and dramatic rise in prices.

Arsenyan added that a false start has been given to the parliamentary election, as the society is going round in circles, having no ways for achieving the set goals. “The society should first of all think of its goals, priorities, what does not take place today unfortunately,” he said.

Arsenyan added that the election technology requires a careful approach: one scandal and its replication would be enough to decrease political force’s popularity.

“As a rule, forecasts do not come true eventually. Prosperous Armenia is rather popular among voters, and we expect to gain a great number of votes,” said Vardan Bostanjyan, Vice Chairman of the RA Parliamentary Standing Committee of Economic Affairs, member of Prosperous Armenia parliamentary group.
