OSCE PA President, Armenian opposition discuss Karabakh issue

PanARMENIAN.Net - The members of Heritage parliamentary group Stepan Safaryan, Anahit Bakhsyan, Zaruhi Postanjyan and Lilit Grigoryan met with the OSCE PA President Petros Efthymiou.

The meeting focused on the settlement of Karabakh issue, situation on the line of contact, Armenia's safety, amendments to electoral procedures, reforms in legal system; security, defence and law enforcement agencies.

As the head of Heritage parliamentary group Stepan Safaryan stressed at the meeting, there's no alternative to peaceful settlement of Karabakh issue. Mr. Safaryan also pointed out that Karabakh people have already realized their right for self-determination, similarly to other ex-Soviet republics.

Mr. Efthymiou, in turn, emphasied the importance of meetings with parliamentary opposition. Among priority goals in Karabakh issue, the OSCE PA President named peaceful settleemt, enhancement of trust between the conflicting parties, removal of snipers from contact line. In conclusion, Mr. Efthymiou characterized the OSCE MG as the most suitable format for Karabakh conflict settlement.
