Yerevan to host YSU 90th anniversary celebrations

PanARMENIAN.Net - At the end of September 2009, Yerevan will host Yerevan State University (YSU) 90th anniversary celebrations.

"Over 60 guests, including representatives of partner universities from USA, England, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Poland and Georgia will attend jubilee events," YSU Rector Aram Simonyan stated.



On September 29, presentation of books dedicated to YSU 90th anniversary will be held at the University. The jubilee events will feature international conferences entitled "21st century University education" and "Education quality aspects' summary".



Founded on May 16, 1919, by governmental decree, YSU is one of the major educational institutions of Armenia.



Currently 13 000 YSU students study in 22 departments. More than 200 lecturers of 1200 have doctoral degrees and more than 500 are Candidates of Sciences. More than 30 academicians of NAS RA work in YSU. Owing to highly qualified scientists significant researches related to different modern scientific branches are carried out in YSU. The educational and scientific activities are organized in more than 100 departments, which are replenished with modern techniques and equipments.
