As the RA minister of Diaspora informed, the year of 2009 is declared the Year of Armenians' fight against tobacco. On October 12, 2004 the National Assembly of Armenia ratified the Framework Convention of the World Health Organization on tobacco control. Currently about 30 per cent of the adult population of Armenia are smokers, while about 60 per cent of smokers are the breadwinners of their families. Every year May 31 is declared as No Tobacco Day worldwide. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has met with Stephan Schütz, Executive Partner at Gerkan, Marg and Partners. The number of state universities will be reduced from 23 to 8 by 2030, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan has said. Partner news |
