Sumgait and Baku events should be given political estimate

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sumgait and Baku events should be given political estimate; the issue should be raised in all international structures and forums, Armenian Genocide Museum Institute director Hayk Demoyan said.

As he told a news conference on Tuesday, eyewitnesses' evidence can serve as Armenia's most convincing proof to the international community.

At the same time, he noted that Baku's present-day policy precludes the possibility for Armenians to live in Azerbaijan. According to Dr. Demoyan, Sumgait and Baku events became a model for today's Azeri attitude towards Armenians and other ethnic minorities. "Sumgait and Baku tragedies must not be forgotten. Public attention should be drawn to those issues permanently but not just once a year," he stressed.
