RA Ministry of Education plans to provide 93.3% of schools with Internet

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan said that the program on provision of Armenia’s schools with Internet is among the programs to be implemented by the Ministry in 2011.

“93.5% of our country’s schools will be provided with Internet in 2011. Thus, 1,358 schools should be connected to Internet by the end of this year,” Ashotyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, only school children of high-altitude regions of Armenia will have no opportunity to use Internet, as application of IT-technologies is impossible there now.

Ashotyan noted that the program on equipping 250 schools with computers will be completed soon. “Under a World Bank program, high schools of Armenia will be equipped by another 700 computers. Thus, 3,200 computers will be granted to the general education system,” concluded Ashotyan.
