Elina Danielyan to participate in first round of Grand Prix tournament for women

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian chess player Elina Danielyan will participate in the first stage of Grand Prize series among women players which has started in Istanbul today.



The FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was present at the opening ceremony of the first stage named "Is bank Ataturk Women Masters Tournament" and the Armenian chess player was nominated at this tournament by him.



Twelve chess players will take part in the tournament with the rating of no less than 2400: Humpi Koneru(India, international rating 2621), Hau Ifan(China,2571), Antuaetta Stefanova(Bolgaria, 2557), Pia Kramling(Sweden,2548), Mari Seba(France, 2529), Maya Chiburdanidze(Georgia, 2516), Chzhao Sue(China, 2508), Zhu Chen (Katar, 2496), Elina Danielyan (Armenia, 2496), Shen Yan(China, 2448), Zeynab Mamedyarova(Azerbaijan 2362)

Betyul Kimre Ildiz (Turkey, 2214).



The tournament consists of 11 rounds. In the first round, March 7 the Armenian chess player will compete with the French player, Mari Seba.



The competition of "FIDE Grand Prize Series among women" will take place in 2009-2010 and will consist of six rounds where 18 strongest world chess players will participate. Each player will participate in four tournaments. By the end of 2011 the FIDE Grand Prize winner will meet with the FIDE world champion in the match, which in 2010 will take place on a nock-out system.(10 rounds).



Time Management: 90 min. for 40 moves, then 30 min till the end of the round with additional 30 seconds for each move. The prize fund for each tournament will make 40 000 euros, and another 60 000 euros will be allocated on the results of common event.
