Ashot Anastasyan missed chances for victory in last round of Abu Dhabi chess tournament

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the open tournament of 18th International Chess Festival organized in Abu Dhabi, Armenian grand masters Ashot Anastasyan, Zaven Andreasyan and Hrant Melkumyan earned 7 points, sharing 2nd-6th positions on tournament table.



Before final round, Anastasyan fell behind tournament leader Alexander Rakhmanov (Russia) by 0.5 point, sharing 1st-2nd positions with Alexandrov. The latter earned title of tournament winner after victory over Rakhmaninov.



In matches against Hrayr Simonyan and Anton Philipinov (Uzbekistan), Zaven Andreasyan and Hrant Melkumyan became winners.



In Abu Dhabi Open Chess Festival, there were 5 players representing Armenia.
