Fatih Terim did much for Turkish football, Minasyan says

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia football team coach Vardan Minasyan said the Armenian delegation was welcomed in Bursa, Turkey, where they will play a World Cup 2010 qualifier on Wednesday.



"All members of the Football Federation of Turkey were very friendly. I believe the match will be played in a good atmosphere," he told a news conference in Holiday Inn.



As to resignation of Turkey coach Fatih Terim, Minasyan said, "I was surprised to know about his decision. Terim was a good coach and did much for Turkish football."



Asked about political coloring of the impending match, Minasyan noted, "I don't know much about politics but as a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, I trust my President."



Armenia-Turkey return match is due on October 14 at 11 pm Yerevan time.
