Armenian athletes win 10 medals at European Wushu ChampionshipsMarch 22, 2010 - 17:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Wushu team attended the 13th European Championship between 7 and 13 March in Antalya (Turkey). Armenian athletes won 10 medals in 3 championships. David Grigoryan won (w/c 48) gold medal, Moushegh Khachatryan (w/c 52) became gold medalist in the age category 15 -16 years. 27 countries participated in the championships. According to the President of Armenian Wushu Federation and international arbitrator Tigran Chobanyan, the arbitrators had prevented the Armenian athletes from winning additional medals. ''Although the organizers and the judges did everything to have our athletes failed, Armenian national anthem was heard twice in Turkey and our flag was raised 10 times,'' Chobanyan said. During the press conference Chobanyan noted that several Armenian delegation appealed the decision of the judges, but it has not produced the results: ''I and the executive secretary of the federation Lusine Ayvazyan were presented as referees, but in Turkey, we stated that we will not be judged in the championship Europe''. Armenian athletes this year completed their performances at international tournaments. Armenian championship will be held between July 3 and 5 in Vanadzor. 6 regional championships will be organized, negotiations are underway to held an international tournament in Nagorno-Karabakh.
