Yerevan to host Fed Cup women team championship of Euro-African zone’s second group

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan will host Fed Cup tennis women team championship of Euro-African zone’s second group from April 27 to May 1.

Judge of the championship Grigor Davtyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that the championship will bring together eight teams from Armenia, Luxemburg, Greece, Georgia, Norway, Lichtenstein, SAR and Finland.

“The teams will be divided into two groups – 4 teams in each group. The winner of A group will compete with the second place winner of B group, while the winner of B group will meet with the second team of A group,” said Davtyan.

The championship winner will gain the right to go up to the first group of Euro-African zone.

The Armenian team is in the second group, due to excellent results shown in 2009, when Armenian tennis players won all the matches of the third group and went up to the second group.
