Lion chosen mascot of 2011 Pan-Armenian Games

PanARMENIAN.Net - On May 30, Yerevan hosted a meeting of the International Committee of the Pan-Armenian Games Executive Committee.

President of the International Committee of the Pan-Armenian Games Armen Grigoryan welcomed all participants of the sitting. He noted that the first Pan-Armenian Games brought together sportsmen form 62 cities of 23 countries in 1999. “And in 2007 representatives of 94 cities of 27 countries arrived to participate in them. Initially, participants competed only in 7 sports, while their number reached 10,” said Grigoryan.

First Vice President of the Armenian National Olympic Committee Razmik Stepanyan said for his part that the Pan-Armenian Games contribute to closer relations between representatives of various Armenian communities. Besides, they are of great patriotic importance, said Stepanyan.

Participants of the sitting have chosen lion as mascot of the games. AMD 80mln were allocated from Armenia’s state budget for organization of the fourth Pan-Armenian Games, which will kick off on August 13, 2011.
