ILHAM ALIYEV REGRETS ROME INITIATIVE ON KARABAKH CONFLICT STEPWISE SETTLEMENT NOT IMPLEMENTED SO FAR

PanARMENIAN.Net - During the meeting with Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi Azeri leader Ilham Aliyev expressed regret that official Rome's initiative on Karabakh has not been implemented so far. In his words, Azerbaijan's efforts are directed towards stability and prosperity in the region, however "Armenia's aggression badly impedes the progress". In his turn, Mr. Ciampi said that the European Union exerts efforts for securing stability and progress as well as resolution of protracted conflicts. "It became possible as result of co-existence of the European nations and sharing of common values of civilization. The new EU Constitution is essential for consolidating neighbor ties between the EU member-states. The expansion of its borders is one of the EU's priorities. We consider stability in the Balkans and Caucasus to be extremely important and highlight the partnership with Azerbaijan and with the whole Caucasian region, development of economic and cultural ties", the Italian President noted.
