The diplomat was contented with appreciating statements of officials representing the parties over the initiative of direct talks between the Presidents in January. At the same time Yu. Merzlyakov believes that it will be possible to speak about that in detail at the OSCE MG Co-Chairs' meeting with Azeri and Armenian FMs in Ljubljana. The date of the recurrent visit of the mediators to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict region, scheduled mid-December, may also be specified here. The Russian diplomat refused to comment on the latest statements on the Armenian President and FM, which «were censured by Baku.» It should be reminded that Armenian President Robert Kocharian stated he did not rule out the opportunity of official Yerevan recognizing the unrecognized Nagorno Karabakh Republic, if the talks with Baku become a stalemate. Armenian FM Vartan Oskanian said Karabakh is an inseparable part of Armenia, which will never belong to Azerbaijan.
