GUAM-U.S. statement: international community should seek solution to frozen conflicts

PanARMENIAN.Net - The international community should seek solution to frozen conflicts, says a GUAM-U.S. joint statement adopted on outcomes of the meeting held between the Organization's Foreign Ministers and U.S. representatives during the UN GA 63rd session.

The participants voiced opinion that all frozen conflicts in the GUAM area should be resolved in the framework of sovereignty, territorial integrity and other international law norms.

They agreed to develop cooperation in various fields, including transport, trade, struggling organized crime and illegal drug traffic.

The next meeting is due in Helsinki in early December, Ukrainian media reports.

GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova) was founded in 1997 on initiative of President Heydar Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Eduard Shevarnadze of Georgia under the aegis of the United States.
