"This is an important day for us to recognize this crime against humanity, and to join together in committing to preventing this kind of genocide from ever happening again," said Garcetti."It is important that we recognize this tragedy as a genocide, both to heal the wounds of the survivors and the families of victims, but also to help prevent future atrocities from occurring." said Councilwoman Greuel.
