US CONGRESS DOUBLED MILITARY EDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR ARMENIAN MILITARY

PanARMENIAN.Net - The US Congress will provide $750 thousand in International Military Education Training (IMET) within aid package for Armenia in FY 2003 instead of the $300 thousand last year. As reported by "WPF" information agency referring to the data of the military institute of the security department, in 2003 such assistance will also be provided to other former states of the USSR. Specifically, Azerbaijan will receive $750 thousand (instead of $377 thousand last year), Georgia - $1 million 200 thousand ($889 thousand respectively). Besides, as reported by "WPF", all post-Soviet countries, except Russia and Tajikistan, will be provided with US foreign military financing. Armenia will get $2 million 950 thousand (instead of $4 million last year), Azerbaijan - $5 million (instead of $4 million), Georgia - $6 million 900 thousand (instead of $11 million). Thus, the Eurasian countries all together will get the largest amounts of US military assistance in 2003. As noted by international experts, the aid volume abruptly increased after the acts of terrorism in the US in September 2001. In their opinion, it will first of all concern the countries, which became US allies in war against terror.
