Turkey to maneuver mostly during ratification of agreements with Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - "The process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations can enter a deadlock not only because of Turkey's speculations on the Artsakh problem, but also because of the crisis within the Turkish elite caused by fighting between opposition and the government. Turkey is now in a process, nobody even in Turkey knows what to expect from," " Karen Bekaryan , the chairman of "European Integration" NGO said a press conference today in Yerevan.

According Mr. Bekaryan, the parties distrust each other to some extent in the process of Armenian-Turkish reconcilliation. "There is a huge difference between the two countries, since by international community, Armenia is seen as more predictable country than Turkey," Mr. Bekaryan added.

According to Mr. Bekaryan, the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is to pass in several phases: the first phase will last six weeks, followed by signing of the document, then the stage of ratification of these documents by the two parliaments is scheduled, where precise timing is not specified. "Particularly at this stage Turkey will maneuver most of all," Mr. Bekaryan stressed. He also added that Turkey will not be able to succeed, if vis major would not arise in the region.

On the question of the PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, why were these protocols signed between Armenia and Turkey, if negotiations are deadlocked, Mr. Bekaryan replied that the process is influenced by international community.
