Tatul Manaseryan: RA's readiness for competition and not border opening is the questionSeptember 8, 2009 - 16:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - "By analyzing establishment of economic relations between RA and Turkey we could make the following inference: Armenia was not ready to joint WTO, this is why negative consequences outweighed positive expectations. Same could be said about the following situation: whether RA is really ready for open policy," Economic Sciences Doctor, professor Tatul Manaseryan told a news conference today. According to him, the question is whether RA enterprises are capable of competing against Turkish companies, considering they're financed by foreign organizations and have high competitive abilities. "If Armenia is economically ready for such competition, a possibility will arise to return our lands not through war, but through economy. And I mean significant part of Western Armenian territories," RA expert said. Manaseryan also noted that the territories in question could be viewed as free trade zones. Another option is Armenian capital implementation, opening of joint enterprises, etc. "I believe that the trade relations should be initiated without rush. Despite the fact certain terms were set, no one can force us initiate steps,'' he said adding that though he believes a process to be Armenia's success, it presents threats both politically and economically. '' RA's readiness for competition and not border opening is the question,'' RA expert emphasized.
