GDP index exceeds expectations, PM says

PanARMENIAN.Net - RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated that Armenia has registered a high economic index in the 2010 first quarter, exceeding expectations 2.5 times.

“This became possible due to the government’s proper economic policy during the crisis,” PM Sargsyan said during a joint meeting of the RA and NKR governments in Stepanakert. “The year of 2009 was the hardest for Armenia. The construction industry - the engine of the Armenian economy - was severely damaged. With the amount of private investments significantly reducing, Armenia launched an extensive policy, spending credits issued by strategic partners on construction of roads, water-supply systems and dwelling houses.”

He also said that pensions and benefits raised by 16% and 15% respectively.
