Shirak Torosyan: election campaign in Javakhk unequal for Armenians

PanARMENIAN.Net - The election campaign in Javakhk proceeds in conditions unequal for the Armenian population, said Shirak Torosyan, member of the Republican Party of Armenia.

“There are 64 villages in the Akhalkalaki region. Georgians live in 7 of them; the others are inhabited by Armenians. Despite this, there are 5 constituencies in Georgian villages and 17 in Armenian ones. It means that although few in number, Georgians will secure 20% of seats, what is a grave violation of national minorities’ rights,” he said.

Mr. Torosyan called on observing missions to closely watch the impending elections to the local-self government in Georgia.
