 Turkey's parliamentary elections set for June 12 March 3, 2011 - 21:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Parliament approved Thursday a ruling party proposal to set June 12 as the date for the next general elections. The proposal was submitted by the ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP, on Feb. 21 and approved unanimously in the Parliament’s General Assembly on Thursday. In its proposal, the AKP pointed to the appropriateness of June 12 as the election date considering the June dates for the placement test for high schools, or SBS, and the university entrance exam, or OSS. During the discussions, the opposition party members criticized the government for taking over the judiciary, Hurriyet Daily News reported.
