Musavat: Baku police detains 16 demonstratorsMarch 11, 2011 - 17:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Musavat Party issued a statement in connection with prevention of an attempt at organizing a youth rally in Baku. According to the statement, the Great People’s Day rally was held Baku today on the initiative of Azerbaijani youth. In the afternoon, young people organized marches in central parts of the city, chanting slogans “Freedom!”, “Urge democratic reforms”. The police interfered with the action, detaining 16 demonstrators. Ali Akbar, as well as young activists Turgut Gambar, Tebriz Oner, Zaur Gurbanli are among those detained. They are kept at Narimanov district police office #18. Musavat Party condemned the crackdown on protesters, demanding immediate release of those detained, APA reported.
