Australian Federation of Islamic Councils buys St Gregory’s Armenian SchoolApril 18, 2011 - 15:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - There is a new sign out the front of the old St Gregory’s Armenian School in Beaumont Hills, indicating that the school’s new owners and pupils could be moving in soon. But they’re awaiting confirmation from the Board of Studies as to when they will be allowed to open the school’s doors. The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils purchased the school by force auction in December 2010 for $9.2 million. The new sign out the front says Malek Fahd Beaumont Hills. The council’s school in Greenacre is also called Malek Fahd. A Board of Studies spokeswoman said the council had applied to open another campus of Malek Fahd in Beaumont Hills, rather than opening a new school. “In January, the Board of Studies received a notification from the Malek Fahd Islamic School that it intended to establish an additional campus at 20 Mungerie Road, Beaumont Hills,” the spokeswoman said. “The Board’s process of considering the registration of the new campus has not yet been finalized.” Mr Patel previously told the Rouse Hill Times that the school would initially take up to 800 students, Rouse Hill Times reported.
