EP President to arrive in Armenia May 18

PanARMENIAN.Net - At the invitation of President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, Speaker of the Armenian parliament Hovik Abrahamyan is in Brussels to participate in the first session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.

Abrahamyan met with Buzek on May 2.

The EP President said it is necessary to boost EU-Armenia cooperation and stressed the importance of Abrahamyan’s visit to Brussels.

Abrahamyan said for his part that integration into European structures is among priorities of the Armenian foreign policy. He added that Buzek’s upcoming visit to Armenia will give a new impetus to the relations between the Armenian National Assembly and European Parliament.

The parties also discussed regional matters and reformation of the Armenian Electoral Code.

On May 3, Abrahamyan will participate in the first session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly. The Founding Act of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly is envisaged to be signed during it, the RA NA press service reported.
