  Russian, US, French Presidents adopt joint statement on Karabakh conflict settlement  May 26, 2011 - 16:55 AMTPanARMENIAN.Net - The Russian, US and French Presidents adopted a joint statement on the Karabakh conflict settlement and urged the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders to “prepare population for peace, but not war,” as well as finalize works on basic principles for the settlement during the upcoming summit in June. “As soon as the agreement is reached, we will be ready to attest the formal adoption of these principles, assist in elaboration of the peace agreement and support its implementation with our international partners,” the statement reads. World leaders met on May 26 in Deauville for a G8 summit. After the last G8 in Canada, France predicted the Internet revolution would dominate the summit, but real revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa and Japan's Fukushima disaster have forced their way onto the agenda. Group Eight state leaders summit will take place at the French seaside town of Deauville (Calvados department). Lasting two days it will end on Friday, May 27. Another French city Mediterranean Cannes (well known due to famous International Film Festival) has been chosen to host the 6th annual G20 Summit. On the provisional date of the of November 3-4, Cannes’ Palais de Festival will welcome the heads of government from 19 different countries for their discussions of financial markets and the world’s economy.   14 Artsakh. Liberated Lands                   The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army. Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group up till now. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive.
