Armenia's Central Electoral Commission published the preliminary results of the referendum on constitutional amendments in Armenia.

The Armenian citizens voted Saturday, December 6, on the amendments to Constitution at 1997 polling stations across the republic.

Violations across Yerevan and the provinces were registered, with the police launching an investigation into double voting cases.

As of 5 pm, 1 005 333 (39.17%) people have voted in the December 6 referendum on constitutional amendments in Armenia.

According to some media reports, one of the voters said an unknown person has opened fire from a pistol once entering a polling station.

As of 2 pm, 622 643 (24.26%) people have voted in the December 6 referendum on constitutional amendments in Armenia.

1997 polling stations opened across the republic at 8 am local time, set to close at 8 pm. The total number of voters is 2 550 323.

Serzh Sargsyan hailed CoE efforts in bolstering democracy, stressing that Armenia has been carrying out reforms over the past years.

The monitors say the alerts mainly concern violations regarding obstacles to the work of media and observers at polling stations.

Karabakh Defense Ministry vows retaliation, declaring that Azerbaijani authorities bear the whole responsibility for the situation.
