Number of tourists from Iran to Armenia doubled in 2010November 17, 2010 - 16:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of the tourism and territorial economic development department at the RA Ministry of Economy Mekhak Apresyan said that, according to the tourism development concept, Armenia plans to bring the number of tourists visiting the country to 3mln people per year until 2030 against the current 600,000 inflow. The country will fix this figure much sooner, Apresyan told a press conference. “Hopefully, we will regain the pre-crisis paces of tourism growth (20-25%) in the country in several years. Besides, we expect a dynamic growth in the number of tourists from Iran and other countries, what will be promoted also by Wings of Tatev aerial tramway,” he said. According to him, the number of tourists from Iran made 80,000 people in January-September 2010 against around 40,000 people during the same period in 2009. Every tourist spends $700-800 on an average in Armenia. However, Apresyan believes that this figure will reach minimum $1,000.
