Beckham says honored to escort Olympic flame

PanARMENIAN.Net - David Beckham says he's honored to have the chance to escort the Olympic flame from Greece to London for the 2012 Summer Games.

AP reports that the former English national team captain and current star for the Los Angeles Galaxy toured a school in Athens on Friday and expressed his pride in bringing a symbol of peace to his homeland.

But what Beckham is really hoping for is that he'll be selected to compete for his country.

Beckham is acting as a special ambassador for the games and was involved in promoting London's bid to host it.

Beckham, Princess Anne and London organizing chairman Sebastian Coe are to bring the flame to Britain on British Airways Flight 2012 later Friday.
