Expert: Azerbaijan prepares to launch war in 2014

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan prepares to unleash war in 2014, Director of Regional Studies Center (RSC) said.

Dwelling on 2014, Richard Giragosian linked the choice of the date with the 20th anniversary of the ceasefire agreement, depletion of Azerbaijan’s oil reserves, as well as conduction of Sochi Olympics.

“Azerbaijan is interested in Russia’s reaction. Thus the question is whether the war will start before the Olympics or following it. In case of war before the Olympics, Russia’s chances will be limited as it will first of all be concerned about the tournament,” the expert said, deeming the recurrence of the scenario of Beijing Olympic Games possible, during which Georgia unleashed war in South Ossetia.

Mr. Giragosian further noted that Azerbaijan presently is not ready for a war.
