Parliament speaker says Oskanian case may serve precedent

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian parliament speaker deems proposals to strip other MPs of deputy immunity possible in the future.

Dwelling on Prosperous Armenia member, former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian’s case, Hovik Abrahamyan voiced disagreement with some of the statements issued.

He further stressed the need for National Assembly speakers to follow the established regulations.

As for Oskanian’s remarks that he feels cheated by Abrahamyan, the latter said, “I never deceived anyone.”

Asked about his personal opinion about Oskanian, the parliament speaker said he is guided only by state and public interests.

The parliament is currently holding a vote on stripping ex-minister Vartan Oskanian of deputy immunity over money-laundering charges against Civilitas Foundation
