Polish Minister offers to resign over World Cup qualifier glitchOctober 24, 2012 - 20:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Poland’s sports minister offered her resignation Wednesday, October 24 over the weather-enforced delay of this month's World Cup qualifier between England and Poland in Warsaw, RIA Novosti said. The match at Warsaw’s Olympic Stadium was postponed by a day when the venue’s retractable roof was left open during heavy rain that made the pitch unplayable. “I feel political responsibility in connection with the cancellation of the match, even though I couldn’t actually have done anything,” Sports Minister Joanna Mucha told journalists at the Polish parliament. She added that she had informed Prime Minister Donald Tusk of her intention. In the wake of the cancellation, Tusk instructed a government commission to investigate the incident and is due to deliver a report later Wednesday. The 58,000-capacity stadium was built on the site of a former athletics venue in order to host Euro 2012.
