Expert: PAP’s decision put current president in funny situation

PanARMENIAN.Net - The ruling authorities and the incumbent president have found themselves in a ridiculous situation following Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukuyan’s refusal to run for president, political analyst said.

“President Sargsyan currently has no rivals. Tsarkuyan’s decision put him in a funny situation,” Armen Aghayan told a press conference, voicing confidence that ANC will resolve against nominating the bloc leader Levon Ter-Petrossian and coordinator Levon Zurabyan for the upcoming race.

The expert further expressed skepticism over Levon Ter-Petrossian’s running for president, given his inability to show good results.

“ANC leader is no different from former and current presidents of Armenia. He was the mentor of both Robert Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan,” he said.

“As for Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannissian, his participation in the race will legitimize Serzh Sargsyan’s victory,” Mr. Aghayan said.
