Buenos Aires wins 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games bid

PanARMENIAN.Net - (SFC) International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Dr. Jacques Rogge made the announcement that Buenos Aires is set to host the 3rd Youth Olympic Games, SportsFeatures said.

Buenos Aires is also set to host the much anticipated 125th IOC session in two months’ time where the 2020 summer Olympic Games host city will be elected and a new leader of the IOC will also be chosen as Dr. Jacques Rogge steps down after 2 terms in office.

The bid team was led by Mauricio Macri, head of the government of Buenos Aires, Gerardo Werthein, IOC member and NOC President, Agustin Pichot, and Florencia Habif.

Two other cities were in the running for the YOG with Buenos Aires, Glasgow Scotland and Medellin, Colombia.

Both cities put on a good show with IOC EB member, Sir Craig Reedie, opening the presentation for Glasgow and the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, front and center for Medellin.
