Armenia’s Mavrik Nasibyan wins gold at World Sambo Championships

PanARMENIAN.Net - As part of Armenian team, Nagorno Karabakh-born Mavrik Nasibyan won a gold medal in 74kg weight category at the 2014 World Sambo Championships in Narita, Japan.

World Sambo Championships are getting bigger and bigger every year. There are national sambo federations in about 90 countries and over 70 countries participate in WSC. There are 3 categories: senior sport sambo men, women and combat sambo men and 9 classes in each, making 27 classes in all. Athletes and officials total more than 500 participants.

Armenian team is represented by 10 sportsmen, namely: Ashot Danielyan, Vachik Vardanyan, Tigran Kirakosuyan, Mkhitar Mkhitaryan, Edik Petrosyan, Martin Mirzoyan, Aren Antonyan, Artur Hakobyan as well as Roza Khachatryan and Sose Balasanyan.
