Armenian weightlifter wins bronze at European Championships

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian weightlifter, Youth Olympic champion Simon Martirosyan won a bronze medal at the Norway-hosted European Championships 2016.

10 sportsmen from Australia, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Poland, Armenia and Latvia competed in the 105 kg weight class of the Championships.

The athlete lifted a total of 402 kg above his head.

Prior to that, Sona Poghosyan from the women’s national team took the fourth spot in the championships, lifting the overall 227 kg above her head.

Earlier, Armenian Andranik Karapetyan won gold at the European Championships on April 13, with Tigran Martirosyan gaining a silver medal.

Kristine Petrosyan took the 5th spot in women’s 63 kg weight class, lifting 207 kg above her head.

Nazik Avdalyan won the 2016 European Weightlifting Championships in the women's 69 kg weight class.
