Manchester United vs Man City in doubt due to heavy rain in China

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Manchester derby scheduled to take place in Beijing on Monday, July 25 is in doubt after heavy rain in the Chinese capital, the Manchester Evening News reports.

United and City are set to go head-to-head for the first time outside England in what would be Jose Mourinho's first meeting with Pep Guardiola as the managers of the two Manchester clubs.

But there are question marks over whether the game at the 91,000-capacity Bird's Nest Stadium will take place after a week of heavy rain in Beijing.

With more thunderstorms expected over the weekend and on Monday, the game has been thrown into doubt.

International Champions Cup spokesman Ben Xiaozheng said: "It's a concern. The weather has been really bad. But we're hopeful the game will go ahead."

A United spokesman added: "We are aware of the bad weather in Beijing, but also that the organizers are working very hard on getting the game to go ahead."

United play Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on Friday before travelling to Beijing on Saturday evening.

They are due to return to Manchester straight after the derby with City on Monday before facing Everton at Old Trafford on Wednesday in Wayne Rooney's testimonial.
