Armenian President congratulates Karabakh on Independence Day

PanARMENIAN.Net - President Serzh Sargsyan on Friday, September 2 congratulated the state and the people of Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) on the Independence Day.

“September 2, 1991 is a glorious page in modern Armenian history,” Sargsyan said.

“A quarter century ago, the people of Karabakh made an irreversible choice which was a conscious and reasonable step.

“You fought and won an unequal war, you built a state and a society which is free as ever, and you created an army which is strong and efficient as ever.

“Of course we have a lot to do both in Armenia and Artsakh, but we’ll achieve our goals despite all the difficulties and challenges.”

According to the President, the clashes in early April proved once and for all that the enemy will be thwarted every time it tries to solve issues by the use of force.

Azerbaijan on April 2 launched overt military actions against Karabakh which killed hundreds of soldiers and civilians on both sides. The parties reached a deal on the cessation of hostilities in Moscow on April 5.

“There is no military solution. There is only a political way out,” he said.
