  Azerbaijan's GDP down by 3.1% in January-August September 19, 2016 - 14:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan's GDP declined by 3.1 percent in January-August compared to the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee said, according to Azerbaijani media outlets. The country's GDP amounted to AZN 38,027,800,000 (around $23,1 billion) in the reporting period. Accordingly, GDP per capita totaled AZN 3,953 (about $2,398). The downturn is caused by 32.3 percent decrease in production of construction products against the same period last year. In 2023, the Azerbaijani government will increase the country’s defense budget by more than 1.1 billion manats ($650 million).
