Rooney "won’t get another game" if Mourinho plays Mkhitaryan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Wayne Rooney has been told he will not get "another kick" at Manchester United as soon as Jose Mourinho begins to pick Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Metro said.

The England captain is yet to flourish in a fixed position for club and country, with the 30-year-old playing as a deep midfielder, in a No.10 role, and as a striker all to varied results.

Rooney has also been benched for United’s last three games following his poor performances against Watford and Northampton Town.

Mkhitaryan, meanwhile, hasn’t featured for United since being brought off at half-time in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City last month.

The Armenia international is currently recovering from a thigh injury but former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes the summer signing from Borussia Dortmund will replace Rooney when he gets back to full fitness.

"Mkhitaryan has hardly played," Merson wrote in his column for the Daily Star.

‘If he does, Rooney is not getting another kick.’

Mkhitaryan joined the Red Devils this summer.
