Armenia's Hripsime Khurshudyan stripped of London Olympics bronze

PanARMENIAN.Net - Hripsime Khurshudyan of Armenia, competing in the women’s +75kg weightlifting event in which she ranked 3rd and was awarded a bronze medal, has been disqualified from London 2012 Summer Olympics, the International Olympic Committee reports.

Re-analysis of the 29-year-old's samples from London 2012 resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substances dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol) and stanozolol.

The IOC Disciplinary Commission, composed for this case of Denis Oswald (Chairman), Gunilla Lindberg and Ugur Erdener, decided that the athlete has committed an anti-doping rule violation pursuant to the IOC Anti-Doping Rules applicable to the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London in 2012, the IOC said.

Khurshudyan has thus been disqualified from the event in which she participated and subsequently will have the medal, the medallist pin and the diploma obtained at the Olympics withdrawn and returned.
